What I would recommend for viewing the closed caption data is the ancillary data display found on both the WFM700M and the WFM6100/7000/7100 series instruments.
On the WFM700M you can access this screen by pressing the Measure button, touching the "Measure Menu" softkey and then selecting "Anc Data Display".
On the WFM6100/7000/7100 you can access this screen by pressing the "Main" menu button then touching the "Anc Data" button under the "Measure" column.
In this tool you can choose to view ancillary data by its data ID number. You can use the general purpose knob to select a data ID and this screen will strip any data out of the stream that is marked with that DID and display it here. The DID and SDID values for EIA-608 and EIA-708 closed-captions is given below. You should be able to input these values into the Anc Data Display to view them:
EIA-608 DID: 0x61
EIA-608 SDID: 0x02
EIA-708 DID: 0x61
EIA-708 SDID: 0x01
